Recently I had a health scare. I’ll keep it vague but in the matter of a day I went from feeling perfectly healthy to thinking I could die sooner than I thought. With little warning or symptoms I discovered a tumor-like object on my body. I began to freak out! I immediately questioned God like “Why Me? What did I do to deserve this? I thought you had it in your plans for me to live a long life? There’s so much I haven’t accomplished!”
But thankfully after a few weeks and several thousand dollars of tests and diagnostic procedures it was determined I was fine. The area was benign.
While the time of uncertainty was grueling I’m thankful for the trial.
I know that everything God does has purpose and I needed this test.
“The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.” Proverbs 17:3
Through the test I was forced to trust God no matter the outcome. Trust that He was in control; trust that I shouldn’t put too much security in my savings (which could take a hit from medical bills) but put my security in Him. Once again through this test I was reminded to be grateful for life and health; everything else will take care of itself.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
